The Eyes Have It

I'm oddly fascinated with Kim Kardashian's eye makeup for the CEW Awards. She's so beautiful and so artificial.  She's carrying her weight in fake eyelashes, but would it work on the average person? Would we even want to? The dress color is gorgeous on her, that's for sure.

And here's Jennifer Lopez taking that all eyes, no lips look to the extreme. Again. I like the charcoal eyeliner on her. It really makes her eyes stand out.

Jennifer Lopez Has Something On Her Head

Jennifer Lopez is everywhere these days, promoting her new movie The Back-Up Plan (the trailer looks decidedly awful, but what else is new?). It looks like whoever is doing her makeup these days has toned down the bronzer and figured out that a nude lipstick in Jennifer's case cannot be an orange based beige, so it's all good. What I can't understand is this hairdo. I put my hair up like this when I'm doing things around the house and can't have 3' of hair getting in the way, but I wouldn't call it a red carpet look. Maybe that's where she's been hiding Marc Anthony.

Jennifer Lopez At San Remo Festival

While her outfits often make me question her taste level (say that in Michael Kors nasal voice), I don't remember Jennifer Lopez ever looking as gorgeous as she did last week in San Remo, Italy. Is it makeup? Has she done something to her face? I'm not sure.

Posh's new hair and other atrocities

Just another reason to dislike Marc Jacobs.

Celebs are losing their hair left and right and soon they will all look like Samantha Ronson. I don't like this, but can't stop staring at Posh in her two-tone glory.

Do you think she shares the same stylist as Pete Wentz?

At least we'll always have Jennifer Aniston and her perfect highlights. It's always 1995 in her world (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, everything considered).

Who do you think will be the next celeb to get her hair cropped?

Everything Matches (and not a word about the husband)

J Lo goes all the way (and then some) matching her eye makeup and nails to her dress. I'm not sure which part I hate more. What say you?

At least...

...the eyeshadow matches the earrings.

It's another case of way too much eye makeup, washed out lips, and I'm not entirely sold on whatever J.Lo has on her face. She could use a better powder, for sure.

Laura Mercier Lipstick

A message to my reader J. from the Block:

Do you remember when we discussed nude lipsticks for girls like us, whose lips are naturally pigmented? We came to the revolutionary conclusion: Beige lips aren't a good thing for us. I've found a great alternative for us. Laura Mercier Creme Lip Color in Pink Champagne is a perfect nude for us. It's a neutral rose, dark enough just to cover our lips without washing them out, but doesn't make a statement and works well with heavily-done eyes. The texture is creamy, the finish is smooth without any shimmer or sparkle, it feels great on the lips and holds for a couple of hours.

Now, about that scary husband of yours...

Peachy

This is why matching your lipstick with your dress instead of your own coloring is not recommended. Also, you can take my word for this, since J-Lo and I have a very similar skin tone: We don't turn peach when we're tanned.

The hair is cute (much better than several of ultra-stiff styles she's been sporting lately) and so are the earrings. It's just the overall color that seems off.

Edited to add:
Hollywood Rag has a very intimate closeup on Jen's face, where you can see every detail of her makeup, including the lack of moisturizer around her nose.

Jump the Shark

In the fashion section of Life & Style's new issue (out today and worth looking at. There's a few other interesting articles) there's a story about 80s and 70s inspired jumpsuits and the stars who wear them. While Jamie Lynn Spears is 16 and related to you-know-who, and J. Lo is, well, J-Lo, I expect more than this from the lovely Sarah Michelle Gellar. It's only marginally better than this bright fashion moment Scarlett Johansson had last September:
